Hi, I’m Shanna E. Stevens, Certified Birth Doula through the International Doula Institute—and a proud mother of five and grandmother to one bright little light.Birth is sacred to me. It’s a threshold—powerful, vulnerable, and deeply transformative. My own path through motherhood has taught me that every birth is unique, and every parent deserves to feel deeply seen, heard, and supported.With gentle presence, intuitive care, and trauma-informed wisdom, I offer a calm hand and an open heart. What is a birth doula?
A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a birthing person before, during, and shortly after childbirth. Unlike medical providers, a doula does not perform clinical tasks but focuses entirely on the comfort, confidence, and advocacy of the birthing individual. From prenatal education and birth plan guidance to hands-on support during labor, a doula helps create a grounded, empowering experience tailored to your unique needs and preferences. Whether you're birthing at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center, a doula is there to walk beside you—offering calm, clarity, and compassionate care every step of the way.
